Norther Tajikistan 10-13C - FIGURED PITCHER

The fired clay, glaze. Height 24,5, length 24, width 15. Depicts fantastic being on three legs, with the body of bird and the head of some animal. On the breast the rosette, filled with triangles with the points in the center. Wings are designated by relief; on them the rosettes, filled with multiple-beam star and pattern from the points; at the ends of wing there is slanting shading. On the shoulder there is rosette with the deeply cut in cross. On the back there is carved ornament under glaze. Glaze is white, with the greenish nuance. Head is round. Water is poured out through the oval mouth and the eyes, designated by circular openings. Sufficiently rough knob is fastened to the neck and to the base of the tail, where the lower part of the neck was preserved, through which the water is poured. 10C. Kalai Kahkaha III.
